Hunza Valley-Land of Apricots,Pink Yak Butter, The Lady Finger and the Baltit Fort

Its been almost two years since my journey to the heaven like Gilgit Baltistan. Every area in Gilgit Baltisitan is an amazing treat to experience. Today , listening to a Shina Song, brought me the memories of the land of Apricots, Pink Yak Butter, The lady finger mountain and the Baltit Fort. The literacy rate in the Valley is more then 90 percent thanks to the Agha Khan Foundation ‘s work for its Community. Brushiski is the language spoken in the Hunza. The Traditional food of Hunza is very saltish and they cook almost everything by coating it in the Flour batter. The traditional Tea that is also served in Baltisitan is made of putting clarified butter in the milk and is of almost red colour and very hard for us people of the Plains to gulp down. However , the pink butter and the dried apricots are an amazing treat of the Hunza Valley and must be Tried by all visitors. Hunza valley hosts a PTDC and a Sareena Hotel as well.

Bublimotin, Bubli Motin, Bublimating or Ladyfinger Peak, is a distinctive rock spire in the Batura Muztagh, the westernmost subrange of the Karakoram Range and is splendidly viewed by Hunza Valley.

700 Years Old Baltit Fort, the Former Residence of the Mirs of Hunza

Its half an hour s walk to the Fort from the base point at Karimababd village Hunza

The Baltit Fort is ranked as the 12th best tourist site in Pakistan. The fort was decaying after 1945 when Mirs shifted their residence from the fort. it has now been restored by the efforts of AGF and stands an interesting example of successful preservation. The Fort hosts a museum of its owners artefacts as well.

A 200 year old Manuscript of Quran on display at Baltit Fort

A Mir of Hunza married a Balti princess in 16th Century,  who brought Balti craftsmen to renovate the building as part of her dowry. The architectural style is a clear indication of Buddhist Tibet influence in Baltistan at the time.

Very Heavy Utensils in Rooms with very small doors makes one wonder how did these people lift them up..
